Wandering Notification System for Caregivers of People with Dementia

This article describes a prototype design of a system dedicated for wandering prevention of people with Alzheimer, dementia, or other form of memory loss. The design integrates proximity sensors, BLE beacon and telecommunication technologies for location monitoring of a person with dementia, alerting the caregiver when the person leaves home and positioning the person outdoors. The experiments show that the prototype is robust, inexpensive and works in real-time.
