Internet of things (IOT) is an evolving technology nowadays, as it facilitates our life and add more luxury to our life. Because all of this there is a growing demand for IOT devices. This growing demand came with a lot of security and privacy issues. Security is the big obstacle in the evolution of IOT.in this paper we will discuss briefly the evolution of IOT and cybersecurity research to face the security risks. We will discuss the IOT layers architecture from cybersecurity perspective and study the attacks in each layer and the corresponding counter measures to overcome these attacks. then we will discuss cybersecurity approaches for these security challenges. Finally, we will end with proposed solutions and conclusion. This overview is meant to act as a knowledgebase that will provide unique foresight to assist administrators in placing themselves and their organization in ways that are consistent with their overall objectives and vision in order to achieve amazing results. Similarly, interested researchers might look into the study’s subjects and directions in order to provide better solutions to the many challenges in IoT security.
