An investigation on Cooperative Communication Techniques in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks

Prasannavenkatesan Theerthagiri · 2022

Cooperative communication is the emerging networking approach in wireless communication, specifically in MANET. It is a cost-effective service provided by the nodes in the network. MANET properties make the node a non-cooperative node in the network, such as free mobility of nodes in the infrastructure-less network; the dynamic topology due to the frequent change in the routes, the communication link disconnection due to loss in energy, battery health, and the bandwidth. The non-cooperation of nodes motivates many researchers to develop various methods to deal with the non-cooperative nodes in the MANET. These methods propose the cooperation stimulation techniques in the MANET and solutions to force the nodes to participate in the cooperation. The cooperation is attained by either encouraging nodes or punishing nodes. This paper discusses various cooperation stimulation techniques and performance evaluation of the cooperation on nodes in the MANET. The aim of stimulating the cooperation is to attain the maximum network performance in the network overall throughput, PDR, and accurate selfish node detection rates.
