Mehtab Alam, Akshay Chamoli, Nabeela Hasan · Apple Academic Press eBooks · 2022

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones are certainly going to be the future. They ploy in the air and keep track of the occurrences in their vicinities. They do not need any human to control them or to operate them. They gather data in form of images and sounds with various sensors, camera, and mics inbuilt in them, and further transmit them to the gateway where data can be processed and information can be taken out from it. In the near future they will be working as aerial and portable base stations (BS) for users as well as the government acting like gateways, collecting data from its own sensors as well as various other sensors deployed on roads, bridges, traffic lights, vehicles, buildings, and various other places. They will help us gather big data for analysis and in the same time making smart cities even smarter.
