Applying the Diamond Model of Intrusion Analysis: Brazil’s Operation “Car Wash” Cyberattack

This paper uses the Diamond Model of intrusion analysis to discuss the intricacies and unfoldings of the cyberattack that enabled Operation “Car Wash” leak (nicknamed “VazaJato”), one of the most significant leaks in Brazil’s political history. Our discussion tries to understand the cyberattack that took place in a threat intelligence perspective and, as a result, it draws conclusions and presents an assessment and some recommendations with regards to cybersecurity policy.
