Importance of Cybersecurity and Its Subdomains

The term cybersecurity has become one of the most important popular and frequently used terms in the field of information technology. With the increasing rate of cybercrimes, the need to prevent them is also increased. Highly talented cybersecurity experts is one of the immediate needs of the hour. This chapter is an attempt to elaborate the basics of cybersecurity and to identify various subdomains of cybersecurity to make sure that early identification of such domains can lead to timely preparation for required cyber warriors. The chapter is divided into two major sections namely Introduction to Cybersecurity and Subdomains of Cybersecurity. The section “subdomains of cybersecurity” is further divided into four subsections namely 1) Target-based cybersecurity domains (What to secure?); 2) Tool/Methodology based cybersecurity domains (How to secure?); 3) incident response; and 4) emerging and futuristic domains of Cybersecurity.
