Real time embedded systems created using digital signal processors have a significant progressive role in processing of multi-parametric bio-signals. The decreasing cost of this technology has resulted in its commercial availability and provides high speed, accuracy, noise immunity, low power consumption, programmability and size reduction. The analysis however is done generally on stored data and there is a need of a data acquisition unit that makes the system expensive. This paper proposes the design of an intelligent dsPIC digital signal controller DM330011 based system for continuous monitoring and automatic analysis of bio-signals. This kit has on board analog to digital converters and programming circuitry. The front end hardware includes biosensors and self developed tested cascaded amplifiers, right leg drive circuits and active filters. Verified Zero phase band pass filter algorithm in MATLAB shall be tested in the software tool by dsPIC. The final system would result in an inexpensive stand alone solution to real time implementation of medical monitors.
