CORINE (Coordination ofInformation on the Environment) is a land cover identification andclassification project initiated by the European Union in 1985, which has beenupdated in 10 years and then every 6 years. With this project, the EuropeanUnion member countries and Turkey obtain information about land cover by usingsatellite imagery and other helpful data sources. It is known that governmentsuse the data for purposes such as quick decision-making, environmentallysensitive and sustainable land planning and potential identification. In this work, the use of CORINE data in scientific publications has been discussed. Thesesand articles determined by the document review method were examined andevaluated from various angles. Accordingly, mostly agricultural engineeringfields in Turkey is working with this data. Then comes the forest engineers. Itcan be said that geography, which is the spatial science, is left behind inthis point. Relevant theses and published articles emphasize the inadequaciesof various aspects of scientific research for CORINE data. The most commondeficiencies identified with CORINE are resolution, classification area, namingand accuracy analysis.
