Haoming Liu, Zhao Liu, Ming Zhao, Zhen Gao · 2022

The core network plays an important role of control-ling hub in the mobile communication system, which is responsi-ble for user equipment's registration, authentication and session establishment. In order to meet the demand of 5G, the Service-based Architecture core network is proposed by 3GPP, featuring network functions with Service-based Interface. Driven by the increasingly diversified application scenarios, the future mobile communication system needs to support the connection and integration of wide-area distributed heterogeneous devices and become more open. Meanwhile, it also needs to further enhance its efficiency, scalability and reliability. Based on the nature of decentralization, immutability, transparency and customizability, blockchain can offer helpful solutions to aforementioned chal-lenges. In this paper, we proposed a blockchain-based mobile core network architecture with aggregated control plane to address related issues. The experimental evaluation results show that our design can perform well in the case of emergency communication.
