Connected cars aims to produce new business models and optimized customer interfaces. Car makers plan to fit and manage their cars with new technology modules. An enormous growth in the production of electric and connected vehicles has led to a complete revolution in the automotive industry, so new technologies are needed to meet the rapid innovation of the industry as a whole, thus reducing market time and engineering costs. The main aim of this chapter is to provide automotive industry with an open-source solution to build a fast-innovating ecosystem and to decrease the time to market for applications. Automotive grade Linux (AGL) is an open-source collaboration project that brings together manufacturers, suppliers, and automaker companies to speed up the production and adoption of the connected car&s;s fully open software stack. AGL is based on Linux, which has developed a transparent, de facto industry standard architecture from the ground up to allow the accelerated creation of new technology and applications.
