In this paper, the diversity effect generated during the encoding process of polar codes is analyzed. The performance advantage of polar codes based on the diversity effect is proved by introducing the concept of bit correlation. During the process of polar encoding, bits with high correlation are placed further apart in the bit sequence, resulting in diversity gain. Most multimedia services take place indoors, where the reflection and diffraction of wireless signal lead to multipath fading effect. This environment provides the possibility to further utilize the diversity effect of polar codes. Based on the diversity effect, this paper proposes a mapping design scheme between polar coded bits and complex symbols from the perspective of Euclidean distance. Simulation results show that the proposed mapping scheme provides performance gain compared with the non-optimized scheme.
