Industry requirement towards automation is consistently increasing. Sensing, acquisition and processing of the data have become the most sought out areas for novel research approaches. In this work, one such potential research problem has been addressed, which is related to the textile industry. The challenge of broken thread detection is consuming more man-power attention and cost. Earlier traditional models such as client-server could not mitigate the challenges of this industry in an effective manner. The proposed mobile agent based sensing and computation paradigm, providing the feasible yet effective solutions for the broken thread detection. In this research work, the mobile agent method using Java Agent Development Framework is implemented. Experimental results proven that mobile agent based methods have potential to detect the broken thread giving better latency and less network load, which are most demanded by the textile industry. Another key inference from the obtained results is with the increase in cluster size, the detection time reduces using this mobile agent based approach. The outcomes of this work are an encouragement to use this mobile agent based method to other industrial applications.
