Design and Implementation of a Blockchain-Based Road Damage Approval System

Shoujian Yu, Ting Zhang, Xiaoxiao Huang, Xiaoling Xia · 2022

In the traditional centralised e-government approval system, the databases of different government departments are independent of each other, with varying degrees of construction, and the fragmentation of information is relatively serious, making the approval of government data inefficient and difficult to share. The emergence of blockchain provides a new idea to solve the difficulties of sharing and managing government data. Based on the characteristics of blockchain such as non-tamperability and traceability, the article adopts FISCO BCOS, a federated chain whose participating members' identities are audited by the system, as the underlying architecture, and conducts research around the road damage approval process, designing, implementing and verifying a blockchain technology-based road damage approval model, as well as designing the corresponding smart contract, so as to complete efficient government approval and secure data sharing. The article concludes with qualitative and quantitative testing of the approval system, demonstrating that the system designed is usable, easy to use and secure.
