Tim Kuschel · Focal Press eBooks · 2022
Understanding networking will be a crucial skill for any video technician going forward. The ability to correctly assign IP addresses and the establishment of VLANs will be part of the daily routine. It is also important to know how to connect to the internet for signal broadcasting and what protocols are available for video over IP. This chapter will establish the basic skills required for setting up show control networks and what all the numbers in an IP address mean. It will introduce protocols that are used to transmit real time video over standard broadband and what lies ahead in the future with regards to SMPTE’s ST-2110 standard.
