Steady one-dimensional flow with constant transmissivity

Mark Bakker, Vincent Post · 2022

This chapter is the first of five chapters that deal with one-dimensional flow problems. It starts with the derivation of the governing differential equation based on the flow continuity principle, which is then solved to yield the Poisson equation, a differential equation that describes various flow problems. Those included in this chapter are the flow between rivers, both without and with areal recharge, and the flow between an impermeable boundary and a river. A solution to the flow through two hydraulic conductivity zones is also provided. Equations are derived for the travel time and the stream function in a vertical cross section.
