Impact of the persistence layer on performance and architecture for a Java web application
Pacurariu Marco, Marius Marcu · 2022
Web application development represents an important area of the Software Engineering industry, where technologies largely evolved in time. Currently, there are programming languages where open source libraries are built so that the developers can grow their project faster. This paper is oriented on Java programming language and how the persistence layer of an application could be implemented. Because of increased demand of the software products, the development process needs to be faster, so many high level dependencies could be included into an application. This applies for the persistence layer, too, where a tool like Hibernate should allow the developers to build the product in a quicker and simpler manner. The present work describes how such a tool could change the architecture of an application vs. a pure JDBC persistence layer and by what margin one or the other will be more performant.
