Vital biometric standards launched

The biometric industry has taken a significant step forward with the publication of a series of ISO-approved biometric standards; and more are on the way. Use of the standards will enable one vendor's equipment to produce a biometric data block in a format that can be compared directly with that produced by a different vendor's equipment, without the need for any collaboration between the two vendors. This development means that, from 2006, systems integrators and end-users will be able to implement standards-based biometric applications with confidence, standards officials claim.
