A Process for Calculation of Product Distribution through Relative Rate Analysis: Examples for Free Radical Halogenation
Patrick E. McMahon, Bohdan B. Khomtchouk, Claes Wahlestedt · 2016
Organic reactions often produce a distribution of related constitutional or stereoisomer products. The determining factor for this product distribution may be free energy (thermodynamic control) or relative rates of formation (kinetic control). For those reactions under kinetic control, certain types of rate information can be used to calculate predicted isomer ratios or percentages. The processes described can be applied to three problem types using free radical halogenation as the example reaction.
