Thanks to ron zambo for his British trapezium clarification in the March 2005 “Readers Write” in an ongoing MTMS discussion on trapezoids, whether American, Canadian, or British. If anything, his comments further illustrate the confusion that can result from different, sometimes contradictory, or maybe even misunderstood definitions of seemingly common mathematical terms.
