Mark S. Gordon and co-workers have observed a new type of reaction pathway that involves a nontotally symmetric trifurcation.On page 487, the pathway is investigated for a typical SN2 reaction and the branching mechanism is discussed based on the reaction path curvature and net atomic charges.Furthermore, the possibility of a nonotally symmetric n-furcation is discussed.
