Examples of Special Analog Circuits and Systems Used in Biomedical Instrumentation
Robert B. Northrop · 2012
As a biomedical engineer, there are many specialized integrated circuits you may be expected to be familiar with, understand their operation, and be able to effectively incorporate them into biomedical instrumentation system designs. These integrated circuits include, but are not limited to: • IC thermometers • Phase detectors • Phase-lock loops • Phase-sensitive rectifiers • True-RMS converters • Voltage-and current-controlled oscillators Most designers and vendors of analog ICs such as Analog Devices, Burr-Brown, Exar, Maxim, National, Texas Instruments, etc. make one or more of the aforementioned special-function ICs. In describing them in this chapter, applications as well as designs will be stressed.
