Stanley Whitehead, M.A., Ph.D.

After graduating in physics at Oxford and spending some time on research under Professor Lindemann (as Lord Cherwell then was), Dr. Whitehead was appointed to the staff of the Electrical Research Association as a Technical Assistant in 1925. At the same time he continued postgraduate work in electrical engineering at Queen Mary College, London. The whole of Dr. Whitehead's professional career has been in the service of the E.R.A. He was promoted Senior Research Assistant in 1930, Assistant Director in 1938, Acting Director in 1945 and Director in 1946.
