Part VIII discussed security and privacy for some of the emerging technologies such as data warehousing and data mining. As we have stated, the Web has had a major impact on developments in data management technologies. However, the Web also causes major security concerns. This is because Web users from all over the world can access the data and information on the Web as well as compromise the security of the data, information, systems, and applications. Therefore, protecting the information and applications on the Web is critical.
