Appendix G: How to Use User‐Defined Windows/Web Forms

Ying Bai · 2021

In most Chapters of this book, such as Chapters 5~7, we discussed how to build a complete project by using some user-defined Windows Forms, such as Faculty, Course, and Student Forms, to save developer's time and efforts. However, in order to correctly copy and add these Forms to your Visual Basic.NET project, certain operational steps with the correct orders are necessary; otherwise, some errors may be encountered and those Forms cannot be added into your projects and they may not work properly at all. This is absolutely true if some Visual Basic.NET Design Tools and Wizards are used in your projects and a DataSet has been built to connect to your database. In this Appendix, we try to use an example Form, Faculty Form, to illustrate how to add this Form to your project correctly and easily. We will use a sample project SampleWizards Project to discuss this addition function.First, create a new blank solution SampleWizards Solution and then add a new Windows Forms App (.NET Framework) project SampleWizards Project into this solution.Open the newly created project and remove the default Form, Form1.vb, from the Solution Explorer window. Now follow the operational steps listed further to add this Faculty Form to this new project.
