The Applied Forensic Distortion Analysis Model
Jeremy Colls, Harold V. Hall, Joseph Poirier, Joseph Poirier · 2000
Forensic distortion analysis (FDA) mandates a scrutiny of the actor, oneself as evaluator, and the context in which the distortion occurs. To comment upon possible faking by a murderer, one must be intimately familiar with the homicide. To state that cerebral insult stems from a car accident, one should know how the person typically behaved prior to the alleged trauma. To claim that a rehabilitation client is deliberately sabotaging therapy because of secondary motives, one must be aware of one’s own countertransference, an insidious and often overlooked source of self-deception.
