The Turkish MMPI: Translation, Standardization and Validation
James N. Butcher, Charles D. Spielberger · 2013
The MMPI has been translated into Turkish several times independently by psychologists at different institutions. One translation, done by the National Testing Bureau, was reexamined and several changes in the items were made (Savasir & Turgay, 1970). This version was used at a number of hospitals where it was administered to groups of normals and psychiatric patients for a period of 7 years. Comments made on the MMPI items by both normal subjects and patients were collected. It became obvious that there were difficulties in the comprehension of some items. All of the items were reexamined and rewritten in the light of the accumulated knowledge and experience with the test (Savasir & Erol, 1978).
