Bangladesh telecom regulator acts to preserve privacy as government takes on biometric naysayers

The Bangladesh telecom regulator has asked all mobile telecom operators in the country to assure protection of the biometric data provided by subscribers, according to local reports. In order to register a SIM card, mobile phone subscribers have to provide fingerprints along with personal information from their national identity cards to their mobile phone operators.
