Error-cancellation-based rewiring is a generalisation of rewiring techniques based on automatic test pattern generation. In the model, the additional and removal of wires or nodes are regarded as some errors occurring in the circuit. Then, the process of rewiring is modelled as a process of error cancellation. The idea of error-cancellation-based rewiring is simple. However, it is difficult to be implemented efficiently. In this chapter, we will examine how error-cancellation-based rewiring has been evolved.
