Transformation, Ovid and Guided Imagery and Music (GIM)
Leslie Bunt · 2013
We cannot help but transform our experience – Freud’s emblem for this is dream-work – and we cannot help but express ourselves. (Phillips 1998: 11) Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) was presented at the Ninth World Congress of Music Therapy (held in Washington in 1999) as one of five specialist approaches in music therapy. The lengthy training in this approach is one of the options available to a music therapist seeking new and exciting challenges. This chapter presents some perspectives on the transformational potential of this powerful approach.
