Principles and Evolution of Digital Cameras

Lindsay MacDonald · 2006

The first ideas of electronic cameras are now nearly 100 years old, only70 years younger than the first Daguerreotype film camera. Some ofthe basic working principles and the general assembly have remained the same all this time. Improvements and progress in many technical areas, however, have been required to obtain modern digital cameras. This chapter aims to explain the principles of digital cameras and to evaluate the current state of their development.
