A standards-based biometric smart card – at what cost?

Fidelica Microsystems has announced the availability of the company's FSC-3012 Biometrically Authenticated Smart Card. What makes this smart card special is that it is possibly the first commercially available model to provide fingerprint imaging, enrolment and authentication contained (completely) within an ISO 7810/16-format smart card – the sort of card that one would recognise as a credit card.
