Developing the Project Scope Statement
Kim Heldman · 2018
This chapter reviews detailed project requirements, constraints, and assumptions with stakeholders based on the project charter, lessons learned, and requirement gathering techniques to establish the project deliverables. The chapter describes the Develop Project Management Plan process that outlines the overall approach one uses to manage the project. The result of this process is the project management plan document that describes how one will execute, monitor, and control the project outcomes as the project progresses and how one will close out the project once it concludes. The first process in the Planning process group is the Develop Project Management Plan process. The Develop Project Management Plan process brings all these subsidiary plans together, along with the outputs of the Planning group processes, into one document called the project management plan. Planning processes on large projects are completed mostly by the project management team. Team members are brought onto the project when work is ready to begin, and a large kickoff meeting is held to explain the objectives of the project, to gain buy-in from the project team members, and to explain roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders and team members.
