This month we welcome the perspective of John F. Carlson who assumed the top executive position at Cray Research in January. I expect that his views will be of great interest to most SEG members since Cray Research has been at the forefront of supercomputing technology for the past two decades, and improvements in supercomputing technology/cost effectiveness are going to determine much of what exploration geophysics can and can't do in the future.
