Message from the Program Chairs: SP 2020
2020
It is our great pleasure to present to you the technical program of the 41st IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy. This year, the Symposium was scheduled at The Hyatt Regency, San Francisco, California, between May 18-20, 2020. Unfortunately, due to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic the organizing committee decided to hold a virtual IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy for the first time in its four-decade history. This year, we received a total record of 841 submissions, across all the twelve monthly submissions cycles. Each reviewing cycle started on the first of each month, and ended after a period of two months. We continued the tradition of double-blind reviewing, in which both reviewers and authors are anonymous during the reviewing process. Each submitted paper received between 3 and 5 reviews, and was discussed extensively online. A selected number of papers were discussed during a monthly Program Committee virtual meeting. The Program Committee recommended direct acceptance of a set of 41 papers, and gave a Revise decision to 86 papers. From the Revised papers, 51 were resubmitted and accepted for publication at the 2020 Symposium. A set of 24 Revised papers will be reconsidered for the 2021 IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy. In addition to these, 12 were revisions from the 2019 Symposium, which were resubmitted and accepted by the 2019 Program Committee. That brings the total number of papers presented at the 2020 Symposium to a record 104, included in these proceedings.
