New Systems Available for Chrome Platers

Two new proprietary chrome plating systems have been introduced by Diamond Alkali Co. One is known as Duramir 200 and is claimed to be particularly useful for plating unevenly shaped articles. The other is named Econo-Chrome. It combines wide flexibility with high-speed operation, according to the Cleveland, Ohio, company. As a basic producer of chromic acid, Diamond has long had an interest in chrome plating. But these two new systems mark Diamond's first push into complete proprietary systems. Until now this proprietary market has been dominated by a line of products made by M&T Chemicals, Inc. According to Diamond, its entry into proprietaries is a logical forward integration into a higher profit market. The company says that the total market for all chrome-plating chemical raw materials has been pretty stagnant at about $10 million for the past five years.
