October's patch Tuesday has caused headaches for the more security minded users of Microsoft Windows. The nine-patch release, which was intended to fix four bugs in Windows, including one with potential for a Zotob-type worm to exploit, has instead disabled systems which have had their folder permissions altered. And the type of person who would alter their permissions? Why, it's the security administrators and people with advanced knowledge of the security risks to Windows. So what went wrong?
