Java Programming for Blockchain Applications

This chapter introduces the concept of blockchains, as well as how to validate a blockchain and how to mine the blocks. It shows how blockchains work and what they can be used for. The chapter describes variations of a simple Java blockchain example, using the BitcoinJ, Web3j, and EthereumJ open source libraries. Blockchain is a fascinating technology. Although it still has some issues, it is nevertheless amazing and has the potential to fundamentally change the world. The chapter looks at some examples of Java blockchain applications. It also shows a simple Java blockchain demonstration program. It consists of two Java files, Block.java and BlockChainMain.java. IBM Blockchain, which is based on the open source Hyperledger Fabric, is a public cloud service that aims for business customers to build secure blockchain networks. NEO is a nonprofit community-driven blockchain platform. It aims to create a “smart economy,”� by utilizing digitize assets, digital identity, and smart contracts.
