This chapter briefly explains the batch processing technique, which starts and finishes the computer programs in a set of batches. This short discussion leads to the familiarization and purpose of the interruption concept. The chapter also discusses interactive computing and describes the interruption concept. It examines the process of the interruption of computer processors along with the polling concept. The chapter describes the role of interruption in creating the operational space in the operating systems. The rest of the chapter discusses deployment areas of this software system, and liminal and porous boundaries.
