Communication Techniques
Daniel Battu · 2014
Telecommunications use the properties of electromagnetic waves which, like any vibrating movements, are characterized by their frequency, amplitude and phase. This chapter discusses modulation and encoding techniques. Frequency division multiplexing (FDM) technique applies to frequencies, and is not limited to analog channels, because it is also used to juxtapose digital groups on analog connections, mainly on satellites or submarine cables. It is also very similar to wave division multiplexing (WDM). Switching devices are used to create a temporary relationship between two similar machines. Network management in local area networks (LANs) or wide-area networks (WANs) refers to supervise and operate computer networks and plan their evolution whilst respecting the constraints of cost, quality and hardware. The Open System Interconnection (OSI) model, because of the structuring of its protocols into functional layers, enables information to leave the LAN where it originated to cross great distances and reach its addressee.
