The written MI proof

David S. Gunderson · 2014

This chapter is directed at the student, especially the student just learning how to write an inductive proof. Many teachers might also benefit from guidelines presented here when experimenting in how to teach MI writing. Some comments given here may also be useful to professional mathematicians, however most professionals can afford to be slightly relaxed in their presentation because they may expect that most of their audience can reconstruct a formally written proof from their outline.
