Statistical and Factual Errors in Text

In the editorial titled "Radiation Injury to Skin Following Fluoroscopically Guided Procedures," published in the JuneArchives(1996;132:695-696), on page 695, in the second paragraph, the values for centigray were incorrectly stated. The first and fourth sentences in that paragraph should have read as follows: "However, while absorbed dose rates from a fluoroscopic x-ray device usually range from 2 cGy/min (2 rads) to 5 cGy/min, doses up to 50 cGy/min may result, depending on the operative mode for the equipment.... For higher typical dose rates (20 cGy/min), temporary or some permanent epilation and skin injury could be produced in an hour or less." On page 696, left column, 2 words were inadvertently omitted from the next to last sentence. The sentence should have read as follows: "Interestingly, prostaglandins given systemically also protect mice against radiation-induced lethality and lethality from certain chemotherapeutic agents, such as
