Ransomware declining but email scams on the rise, says FBI

The volume of ransomware attacks declined over the course of 2017, even as they evolved to target businesses more than individuals. According to a new report from the US Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) there were 1,783 complaints about ransomware reported to the organisation's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), with total losses amounting to over $2.3m.
