Resistance Thermometers
L. Michalski, K. Eckersdorf, J. Kucharski, J. McGhee · 2001
Chapter Four deals with resistance thermometers first introduced by Callendar at the end of XIXth century. Physical principles and corresponding formulae are presented. This chapter deals with different metals, constructions and properties of resistance thermometer detectors (RTD) displayed in a Table. RTD with a protection sheath forms a resistance thermometer sensor, described in detail for different applications. A section is devoted to measuring circuits applied in resistance thermometry, including voltage dividers and deflection or balanced bridge circuits, connected as three or four wire systems. All over this chapter the high precision of measurement, especially using platinum RTDs is exposed.
