The immediate outcome of reduction of velocity in the near-wall region of the flow is a reduction in the shear stress on the surface. The stream wise development of the coefficient of friction in a convex boundary layer [224] is shown in Fig. 87. This figure clearly indicates that within the curved section, there is an almost 30% reduction in the wall shear stress.
