Design And Implementation Of An Mpeg-2 Transport Stream Multiplexer For Hdtv Satellite Broadcasting

This paper describes design and implementation of an HDTV program multiplexer which is based on MPEG2 transport streams for satellite broadcasting. We have developed an MPEG-2 TS compliant multiplexer with special considerations for timing and synchronization. In particular, we introduce a scheduling algorithm, which use the monitoring information of the buffers of T-STD as one of scheduling factors. We have also implemented a software simulator and used it for efficient verification of MPEG-2 compliance from early design stage.
