Assumptions in Parametric Tests
J. P. Verma, Abdel-Salam G. Abdel-Salam · 2019
Usually, the parametric tests are known to be associated with strict assumptions about the underlying population distribution. For almost all of the parametric tests, a normal distribution is assumed for the variable of interest in the data under consideration. Testing for randomness is a necessary assumption for the statistical analysis. The randomness is mostly related to the assumption that the data has been obtained from a random sample. Several parametric and alternate nonparametric tests exist for hypotheses testing experiments. Correlation is one of the statistical measures that identify the two or more variables that change together. Correlation measures the direction and magnitude or strength of the relationship between each pair of the variables. The basics of the simple linear regression model and how to implement and test it using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software are reviewed.
