Some years ago I was required to inspect a relatively antiquated 80486 PC that had belonged to a woman who had been murdered at a residential address. The police were anxious to ascertain whether any investigative leads might reside on the machine in the form of letters, contacts, faxes, emails or other communications. They also wanted to see whether the victim had made diary entries on the computer or had recorded any personal observations or experiences relevant to the enquiry.
