USABILITY TESTING IN THE “REAL WORLD”: EVALUATING A MULTI-FUNCTION TELEPHONE SYSTEM.

An employee of the company (from here on referred to as the investigator) approached the User Interface Performance Measurement (UIPM) group at Glasgow University and asked for help in evaluating the system for usability. His boss had given him two weeks in which to conduct the evaluation and report back. A department in his place of work had been involved in the design of the phone which was installed across the site. However, the company decided that the system should be checked for usability bugs before it was made commercially available.
