Canada: Freedom of speech v. hate‐mongering: Two contradictory judgments

It has been argued in two recent cases that the anti‐hate‐mongering provision in Canada's Criminal Code is an infringement of the freedom of expression guaranteed by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. In Alberta this argument was accepted as valid. In Ontario it was not. The issue now has to be decided by Canada's Supreme Court.
