Pakistan mandates biometrics to ID mobile users

Pakistan authorities have banned the sale of SIMs at retail outlets and the telecom regulator had asked mobile phone companies to come up with a biometric solution for verifying the identity of customers. The deadline for the deployment of a biometric system is 28 February.
